Friday June 20th
Instead of our usual summer lunch, a dozen members and guests visited Greyfriars Vinery. Here we started with a tasting of one of their sparkling wines and a brief history of the Vineyard. This was followed by a visit to their own bottling plant to learn about the production of the wines. Then we went out to the vineyard to see the vines and have a further tasting of a couple of other sparkling wines and a couple of their still wines. The afternoon was then rounded off by an excellent cream tea and sandwiches and a chance to buy some bottles at a discounted price.

Milford & Godalming Probus Clubs Autumn Outing to Brighton Pavilion
Brighton Royal Pavilion
Originally a simple farmhouse, the Pavilion was transformed into a spectacular oriental palace by the work of architects Henry Holland and John Nash. It is filled with astonishing colours and superb craftsmanship, including many original furnishings and decorations on loan from HM The King. Notable amongst these are a number of important Chinese porcelain pieces, including the series of lifelike model figures.
The Royal Pavilion Garden, in the Pavilion's grounds, has a wide variety of plants, having been restored to Nash's original Regency vision. It is said to be the only fully restored Regency garden in the UK.
Museum and Art Gallery
The spacious entrance is located in the Royal Pavilion garden. Brighton Museum houses one of the most important and eclectic collections outside national institutions. Dynamic and innovative galleries - including fashion and style, 20th century art and design, and fine art - feature exciting interactive displays appealing to all ages. In addition to the permanent galleries, there is a continuing programme of temporary exhibitions.
